In just a few seasons, Les 2 Alpes They underwent a spectacular transformation to establish themselves as an unmissable benchmark in mountain running. Between 1,600 and 3,600 metres in altitude, on the edge of the Écrins National Park, the destination has become a playground where Sunday joggers, enthusiasts, and top-level athletes cross paths.
Two brothers, an association, a network of 17 courses
The turning point dates back to 2021, driven by Lucas and Laurent Sabot. The two enthusiasts founded the association «Les 2 Alpes Trail», which now boasts nearly 300 members and is a true driving force for the discipline.
Working closely with the tourist office, the local council and SATA 2 Alpes, they have structured, signposted and mapped a permanent network of 17 routes, ranging from 2 to 25 kilometres, classified from green to black, just like ski slopes.

The strength of the site lies in a clever idea: using ski lifts. This allows direct access to high-altitude ridges, training in thin air, or avoiding jarring descents that are tough on the joints.
A formula who has won over the public like renowned ambassadors, like Mathieu Blanchard, Yannick Noël or Alix Noblat.
A summer 2026 in unprecedented formats
This season, the programme, created with the association, features a multitude of concepts that can't be found anywhere else in France.
Big news: the Festival du Trail au Féminin (3-5 July), organised by trail runner and nutritionist Alix Noblat. A first in the world of outdoor sports: three race formats exclusively for women (6, 12 and 23 km), catering for everyone from beginners to experts, as well as yoga, talks and a wellness village. Men are welcome too, to cheer and join in the celebration.
This will be followed by the Défi de la Muzelle (20-24 July), a 50 or 100 km stage race that is already fully booked due to its popularity, and then the Parcours de la Muzelle (2-7 August), a unique endurance event where participants have 130 hours to complete as many high-mountain routes as possible, without the pressure of cut-off times.
The Tour of the 6 Valleys, a new benchmark for multi-stage ultra-distances
The highlight of the summer, the Tour des 6 Vallées de l’Oisans (6VO), returns for its second edition from 16 to 22 August.

Championed by the association, this unique format offers the intensity of an ultra-trail – up to 188 km and 11,300m of positive elevation gain – or a smaller 93km option, divided over six days to combine performance, centralised logistics, and camaraderie.
A bespoke Alpine adventure that will connect Les 2 Alpes, Alpe d’Huez, Bourg-d’Oisans, Allemont and Auris-en-Oisans this year. From ski resort to trail base camp, the shift has now been made. And it no longer really has a season.
