Verbier (Switzerland) – A bike park, festivals perched facing the summits, Alpine journeys, local gastronomy, high-altitude yoga, and of course, mountain passes for cyclists… Summer 2026 is set to be particularly exciting in Verbier and in the Val de Bagnes. Between authentic villages, glaciers, alpine pastures and international events, the Swiss destination wants to confirm its status as a year-round alpine benchmark.
The new feature: the Verbier Express runs in the summer
This is one of the big new features of the season. After several successful winters, the Verbier Express will also run in a summer version from 27 June to 19 September 2026.
This direct service will link Geneva Airport to Le Châble at weekends, with no changes needed at Martigny, and will include combined offers for train and cable car travel.
Verbier is thus continuing its shift towards a more accessible, car-free mountain, with a direct connection between the train station, cable cars, and the resort. In Le Châble, the cable car that allows you to reach Verbier also operates every day from 5:10 am to 11:55 pm.
Outdoor activities
Verbier Bikepark and the grand mountain bike routes
It's impossible to talk about Verbier without mentioning cycling. With over 700 kilometres of routes, 88 mountain bike trails, and 9 downhill tracks, the Swiss destination confirms its status as a rider's paradise.
Between Fontanets, Verbier and La Tzoumaz, the Verbier Bikepark offers:
- 9 downhill runs
- 18 enduro routes
- 178 kilometres of dedicated trails
All set against a spectacular alpine backdrop of glaciers, forests and hanging valleys.
Cross-country and gravel enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy with long loops around the Grand Combin, the Col de la Croix de Cœur and the Col du Lein.
Mountain hiking routes
In Verbier, summer is also a time for backpacking.
The «Grand Tour des Combins» remains one of the season's flagship routes. This 11-stage trek around the Combins massif crosses Switzerland and Italy in a much wilder atmosphere than the Tour du Mont-Blanc.
Another highly popular experience is the Tour du Val de Bagnes, a five-day route that passes through, among other places:
- the Mauvoisin Dam
- the Corbassière Glacier
- Lake Louvie
- several iconic mountain huts
E-bike enthusiasts can even cycle to the Chanrion hut from Mauvoisin on an electric bike.
Nature and wellness experiences
Verbier is also developing a more contemplative offering.
Coming up this summer:
- Brunch and yoga with a view of the mountains at La Pasay
- Gourmet wild plant foraging in La Tzoumaz
- nights spent in teepees in the Bonatchiesse Forest
- day trips around Lake Louvie
The atmosphere here is deliberately more laid-back and immersive, a far cry from the fast-paced, sporty vibe that often characterises the resort in winter.
Events not to be missed
The Verbier Festival
It is, of course, one of the major cultural events of the Alpine summer.
From 16 July to 2 August 2026, the Verbier Festival will once again bring together the biggest names in classical music in an exceptional setting. Concerts, masterclasses and talks will bring the Swiss Alps to life for over two weeks.
The Verbier Bike Festival
From 13 to 16 August, the resort will be going entirely bike-friendly.
Foodie rides, gear reviews, competitions, gravel, road cycling, e-bikes and downhill: every aspect of cycling will be on show over the four days.
Rocklette and Electroclette
It doesn't get much more Valaisan than that.
Rocklette will combine rock concerts, mountains, and raclette in various locations across the Val de Bagnes from 8 to 16 August.
A few days later, Electroclette will take over at an altitude of 2200 metres with DJ sets, Valais wines and raclette facing the Grand Combin massif.
A Tour of the Resorts
On 29 August 2026, several thousand cyclists will set off on the Alpine roads of Valais for the Tour des Stations.
The event has become famous for its extreme nature: some participants will even attempt to climb the equivalent of Everest’s total elevation gain in a single day.
Our favourite: discovering life in the mountain pastures
It’s undoubtedly the most authentic experience of the summer.
At over 2,000 metres above sea level, visitors can spend two days sharing the daily lives of shepherds on the Sery-Laly mountain pasture.
A night in a shepherd's hut, hiking, cheese-making and raclette at the foot of the Petit Combin make up this rare immersion into pastoral life in the Val de Bagnes.
