Package at 26 euros for the opening weekend, night skiing offered during the winter holidays, free jazz concerts, visits to villages without spending a single cent: Serre Chevalier Briançon aligns several offers for the 2026-2027 season, which begins on December 5 at the ski resort.
Illuminated slopes, the silence of the valley and no one to pay the ticket: every Wednesday and Thursday evening during the winter holidays, Serre Chevalier opens its slopes for night skiing, and it’s free. The most photogenic event of the season is also one of the least expensive.
26 euros per day to start the season
The First Glisses weekend, on December 5, marks the opening of the ski lifts with no ticket sales and an offer via Ouik: 26 euros per day and per person for a group of eight skiers.
Throughout the rest of the winter, this same platform offers up to 50 % discounts on the public price of the adult pass. The passes are digitalized and activated on a smartphone using Bluetooth, which eliminates the need to go through the checkout process.
Cross-country skiing enthusiasts have 45 km of trails, including a free-access loop in Chantemerle. On the alpine domain, three picnic areas equipped with picnic tables and sun loungers remain open to all for a lunch in the mountains without having to go through a restaurant.
Twenty years of jazz, half of the concerts offered
From January 16 to 30, the Altitude Jazz Festival celebrates its twentieth anniversary with more than 40 concerts in 27 venues, from the collegiate church of Briançon to the Grands Bains du Monêtier and beyond. One concert per day is free. All winter long, DJ sets and concerts by bars and restaurants at high altitude are grouped under the label Sound Of Altitude.
The tourist office offers guided visits to the villages of the valley throughout the winter, including churches, chapels, sundial dials and 15th-century frescoes, led by Renaud, the guide wearing the traditional «tarte» hat.
The «old-time evenings» continue with tales and dances from the Dauphiné region. In Briançon, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Vauban, the city is open to the public all year round, and the city’s heritage service organizes visits throughout the winter, including a tour of the fortifications by snowshoes.
Coming without a car
The direct night train from Paris to Briançon drops off passengers less than a kilometer from the foot of the slopes, with a shuttle (line 6) to the villages.
From Grenoble and Marseille, the Zou! LER 55 and LER 69 lines provide regular bus connections, supplemented on Saturdays by the Neige Express from Marseille and, on Fridays, Saturdays and school holidays, by a night bus from Paris. On the Italian side, the TGV station in Oulx, 30 km away, receives trains from Paris, Lyon, Turin and Milan.
To sleep on a budget, the youth hostel BodyGo, at the foot of the Prorel cable car, is adding family rooms and suites to its dormitories this winter, with breakfast or half-board options.
