Tignes is preparing a 2026-2027 season packed with unique experiences. A new fine dining table for eight guests, submerged works of art beneath the frozen lake, a yurt evening at 2,300 metres, and a Snowboard Big Air World Cup organised for the first time in France: the Savoyard resort is rolling out a host of new features ahead of its announced opening on 21 November.
À Tignes, the upcoming season will not be played out solely on the slopes. For 2026-2027, the destination is also focusing on more exclusive, cultural or spectacular experiences, with several concepts set to appear over the coming months.
Among them, The Bubble, a new restaurant conceived at Les Suites du Montana (5-star). Set in a transparent glass pod facing the peaks, just eight guests will witness a true cooking show orchestrated by chef Malik El Khattari.
Preparation, cooking and plating will be carried out before their eyes around a seven-course menu, which changes every week. The experience is priced at 135 euros per person.
Works submerged beneath the frozen lake
Yet the most spectacular sight will be found a few metres further down. From 15 December 2026 to 13 February 2027, Lake Tignes will host «Here the ocean begins», an art installation presented as a world first.
Conceived by the painter Laurence Chilin with the polar explorer Alban Michon, the project will take place under the ice at an altitude of 2,100 metres. Representations of polar bears, belugas, sperm whales, emperor penguins and Greenland sharks will be painted on plexiglass and then immersed in the lake. The transparency of the medium will allow the works to blend into this natural environment.
From 13 February, the exhibition will leave the depths to reach the shores, where an educational trail will remain accessible until 30 April. The whole will combine art, science and awareness-raising around the links between glaciers, water and marine ecosystems.
Another announced experience: the yurt evenings offered by the ESF. Once night has fallen, participants will head to the Chaudannes plateau, at 2,300 metres, in a snow groomer before sharing dinner around wood-fired soup, a tartiflette, a croziflette or a vegetarian dish.
The return journey will then be by sledge under the stars. The package, suitable for ages 6 and over, will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for 95 euros per adult and 65 euros per child.
The Mountain Shaker is moving up a gear
Action sports will also bring their fair share of changes. Organised exceptionally in January, from the 17th to the 22nd, the Mountain Shaker will adopt an expanded format featuring two Big Air World Cups: one in skiing and the other in snowboarding. The latter will be a first for France.
Snowboarders will compete from 18 to 21 January on the Val Claret snow front, with a night-time final. Skiers will take over until 22 January on a feature allowing jumps of more than 30 metres, in front of several thousand spectators. The FISE World Series will round off the programme on 19 and 20 January with skate and roller events in the Tignespace indoor skatepark.
A few days earlier, the Winter Fest will also change its format. In addition to snowboarding, film screenings, freestyle taster sessions and concerts, the 2027 edition will give a more prominent place to skateboarding, with demonstrations and contests featuring Vincent Milou, Aurélien Giraud and Vincent Matheron, amongst others.
Between intimate gastronomy, art beneath the ice and major international competitions, Tignes intends to further expand its playground for this 2026-2027 season. The resort will open as early as 21 November, ahead of the commissioning of the lift connection with Val d’Isère on 28 November.
