It's a quiet little revolution in a valley long dependent on the car. From 1 December 2025, the Haute Tarentaise has a mountain bus service that operates 7 days a week, all year round, linking the lower and upper parts of the valley without interruption, including on public holidays.
Behind this seemingly technical change lies a clear ambition: to make it easier for local residents, seasonal workers and visitors to get around on a daily basis, while laying the foundations for more sustainable mobility in the mountains.
A continuous link between the valley and the resorts
Routes S82 and S83 now provide daily services between Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Séez centre, Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise, Tignes 1800 and Val d'Isère, in both directions and without interruption throughout the year.

Until now, these routes have been largely seasonal, designed primarily for the winter tourist peaks. The fact that they now operate 365 days a year marks a turning point. The mountains are no longer just an area of occasional traffic, but a structured living space.
A price offer designed for all uses
To keep pace with these changes, the Haute Tarentaise Community of Communes has introduced a number of ticket options, tailored to the needs of both regular and occasional users.
- Single ticket, available from the driver, at the bus station or online
- Book of 10 tickets : 30 €
- Monthly subscription : 62 €
- Season subscription : 160 €
One point that is often overlooked is that employers can pay 50 % of the cost of season tickets, a significant benefit for seasonal workers and the local workforce.
How do I buy tickets?
Booklets of 10 tickets require a special procedure. A form must be filled in at the town halls concerned, before payment and collection at the Bourg-Saint-Maurice bus station or directly from the driver.

Season tickets can be purchased online or by telephone. In high season, the authorities strongly recommend that you plan ahead and reserve your seats, especially at weekends.
Beyond its immediate practicality, this line embodies a new approach to mobility in the mountains, reducing dependence on the private car, improving access to resorts without a private vehicle and easing congestion on the main roads during the tourist season.
