Les Karellis - Nestling between two mountains in the heart of the Maurienne valley, Les Karellis continues to transform itself with discretion and ambition. At the heart of this transformation is a new living space: "Aquarellis", a brand new aquatic area, designed to offer a fun, family-friendly and soothing experience, summer and winter alike.
The first holidaymakers in July were able to dive right in. A large pool, slides, a paddling pool for the little ones and a vast wellness area now complete the resort's offer. Here, water becomes an extension of the landscape, another way of living in the mountains.
An express project, serving the region
Launched at the end of August 2024, construction work was brought to a halt by the first snow on 26 November, before resuming in mid-April at the end of the winter season. It took just five months for this new facility to emerge from the ground. It was a feat hailed by all, thanks to local companies and workers who were mobilised right up to the final days.
Behind this project, the SACMAC cooperative, a historic pillar of the resort's development, is assuming its role as a driving force.
"Aquarellis is just one element in an overall modernisation project".says its director Jean-Sébastien Dorel. Other milestones include the redesign of the snow front, with the creation of a free 100 % beginners' area, the renovation of the holiday villages, the future replacement of the Chaudannes chairlift and the installation of a city stadium.
A family-friendly resort model
For the past fifty years, Les Karellis has had a unique identity. No high-rise private residences, no land speculation: from the outset, the commune opted to sign 99-year long leases.
This was the foundation of our protection, and today we can look to the future with peace of mind, in tune with the needs of our holidaymakers.
With "Aquarellis", the resort is adding an essential string to its bow: that of well-being, play and relaxation off the slopes. A lively place, designed to welcome everyone from young children to grandparents, in a spirit of accessibility and simplicity. A water bubble in the middle of the mountains.
