Visit Haute Tarentaise, some walks are as much about the scenery as they are about the story they tell. Starting from the Chapelles, the Sentier des Hameaux invites families to step back in time by crossing seven authentic villages, witnesses of a still very much alive pastoral past.
From hamlet to hamlet, the rambler discovers chapels and 'bachals' – those basins in Savoyard dialect – that recall the agricultural and mountainous roots of the area.
Each village keeps its water source, and the Mont Carmel chapel is one of the highlights of the route. All punctuated by wide vistas of the Alpine peaks.
