Skiers will be able to enjoy a smooth, pleasant journey to the Pissaillas glacier, optimising their time on the slopes. At the heart of this project is a firm commitment to preserving the environment.
The new installation will be built on the route of the old cable car, minimising its impact on the natural environment. And to ease the pressure on the landscape, 30 towers from the old cable car will be dismantled.
The new Vallon cable car promises high speeds
A special effort is also being made to protect the local flora: all protected flower species affected by the project will be carefully transplanted in order to preserve the Vallon's biodiversity.
In these brand new gondolas, visitors will quickly reach the 3,185 metre high peak of the ski area in just 6 minutes and 30 seconds. A clear improvement on previous installations.
This speed will enable skiers to maximise their time on the slopes as soon as the season opens, eliminating the long waits typical of daytime departures.
Work on the new Vallon de l'Iseran gondola lift is due to start shortly, during the spring, with entry into service scheduled for November 2024. Work on the inner station will be completed in summer 2025. The estimated cost of the renovation is €18 million.
