À Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves, The winter season never gets off to a timid start. At the heart of the Les Sybelles ski area, the Savoyard resort is setting the tone from 13 and 14 December 2025 with a new event called St S'Opening, designed as a real festive and unifying kick-off.
With entertainment, music, exclusive offers and great ski deals, the event promises to be a key moment to kick off the winter season and attract visitors and locals alike with a rich and lively programme.
Behind this first event, the Tourist Office has a clear ambition: to create momentum as soon as the resort opens, to strengthen cohesion with the village's socio-professionals and to give real visibility to the first week of the season, which is often still confidential.
It's a clear strategy, aimed as much at holidaymakers from afar as at residents of Chambéry, Grenoble or Lyon, who are attracted by the idea of a weekend away in the heart of the mountains.
Festive atmosphere
From Friday evening onwards, the atmosphere is stepped up a notch over an aperitif-barbecue at the hotel-restaurant Les Cèdres. The next day begins with a spectacular backdrop: breakfast at an altitude of 2,200 metres, facing the freshly snow-covered peaks.
In the resort, a welcome drink greets the first skiers, while the terraces come alive with DJ sets, street food and cocktails. At lunchtime, the mountain restaurant Le Saint S'O extends the party with a musical set in a warm atmosphere.
Sunday keeps up the tempo, with new music sessions, street-food and a Savoyard dinner served in the convivial atmosphere of the Cedars. Musician Lionel Tuaz will punctuate the day with two accordion highlights, at lunchtime at altitude and in the evening at the Barock.
To coincide with the opening of the season, several activity providers are getting in on the act with lower prices: discounts on all activities at the equestrian centre, etc. Les Cavaliers des Arves, There will also be special prices for paragliding baptisms and discounts on private lessons with the ESF throughout the weekend.
Off-price package
It's a way of encouraging everyone to discover the mountains in a different way, and to vary their pleasures from the very first days of winter. In terms of skiing, the resort is hitting hard with an opening day pass at €30, and €60 for a two-day pass. A rare offer for access to one of France's largest ski areas.
Local accommodation providers are also joining in the fun. Short breaks from Friday, weekends from €100 per person, three- or four-night wellness breaks at low prices, welcome packs, hotel rooms from €100 and even discounts on equipment hire - everything is in place to attract the first holidaymakers and create a real local dynamic from mid-December.
To round off the launch, the Tourist Office is launching a major competition designed to raise the profile of the event. Participants will have the chance to win a full VIP weekend.
