À TignesIn addition to the slopes and passing tourists, there is a network of associations that keep the village alive all year round. These include the EchoTignesFor more than twenty years, it has been a key player for both permanent and seasonal residents.
Béatrice Davico, treasurer of the association and manager of Oxygène Ski & Snowboard School - Ski Shop TignesIts mission is to create links, offer a variety of activities and support local life.
The association now has around 120 members, mainly locals, but also seasonal workers who, for €10 a year, have access to a wide range of activities.

"The workshops are often run by the association, but we also organise shared vegetable gardens, CrossFit classes, yoga, and even vegetable baskets delivered directly from local producers". explains Béatrice.
These baskets, offered every week (or every fortnight in between seasons), have expanded well beyond fruit and vegetables to include homemade soups, jams, cakes, cold meats and dairy products.
Further expanding the cultural offer
EchoTignes is not limited to the workshops. Two flagship events punctuate the year: the summer craft market, held between late July and early August, which brings together around twenty exhibitors, and the end-of-winter "friperie chic", dedicated to the resale of second-hand clothes, which is very popular with local residents.
The association also organises social events, such as the refreshment bar at the start of the season, to raise funds for its projects. While the sporting dimension remains strong, the association is keen to broaden its offering to include cultural and creative activities. Before Covid, board game evenings, language workshops and themed meetings were a regular feature.
"We'd like to see this diversity again, but we have to rely on the voluntary commitment of the people involved, who often have other jobs on the side". says Béatrice.
For her, involvement in EchoTignes is also a way of preserving a way of life that is dear to her. She has lived in Tignes for seven years, and loves this resort that "It's a year-round place, far from the villages that die out out of season.
