The new Jandri 3S cable car, which will rise from Les 2 Alpes at an altitude of 1,650 m to 3,200 m, will be operational in December 2024. With just a few months to go before the inauguration of this new lift, the only one of its kind in France, we take a look at the current situation.
This is one of the flagship projects of the 2 AlpsA long-awaited event: the replacement of the historic DMC Jandri Express, built in 1985, by the brand-new Jandri 3S Express, a veritable technological jewel.

With double the capacity, this new lift, halfway between a gondola lift and a cable car, will be able to carry up to 3,600 people per hour, compared with 1,400 up to now, with the time taken to climb to 3,200 m reduced from 40 to just 18 minutes.

Work in progress It was "spectacular, with almost 40 kilometres of cable to unwind and technicians suspended more than 80 metres above the ground". which began in summer 2023 and will be completed this winter.

A new Poma ski liftThis was based on the 3S system, which consists of two carrying cables and a hauling cable, with several mixed cabins in between. "This configuration will halve the number of pylons, from 15 to 7. Total cost of the project: 135 million euros.
