At dusk, when the mountain becomes quieter, Font-Romeu Pyrénées 2000 offers a rare experience. An ascent in a snow groomer followed by dinner at altitude, in a restaurant perched high above the snowy peaks. An intimate, sensory interlude, far from the hustle and bustle of the resorts.
The evening begins with the engine running, at the foot of the slopes. Guests board the Gallinette, The snow groomer climbs slowly up the sleeping mountain.
As you climb higher, the silence settles in, the lights of the resort fade away, and the relief of the Massif des Pyrenees under the stars.
Head for the restaurant La Gallina, perched at 2,217 metres. On arrival, the atmosphere changes. Warm wood, muted lighting and the scent of simmering dishes.
A feast perched at 2127 metres
This high-altitude establishment is as much about the spectacular views over the peaks as it is about its local cuisine.
The formula is deliberately confidential, limited to around twenty guests. You can savour the calm, the slowness, the privilege of being up there, while the mountain breathes.
An experience designed as a sensory journey. The climb, the panorama, then dinner, in an almost suspended atmosphere.
More than just a meal, this groomed ascent is a different way of experiencing the winter mountains. It's a rare evening, to be shared as a couple or with friends, to get a different taste of altitude. Far from the snow front, but as close as possible to the stars.
