It's a major project that will radically transform access to the ski area of the Bows since Villaroger. From December 2025, a new cable car will link Le Replat (1,200 m) to the summit of Plan des Violettes (2,119 m) in less than seven minutes. A considerable time saving, made possible by an investment of 19 million euros, and signalling Villaroger's entry into a new era.
This lift, comprising forty ten-seater cabins with external ski racks, will replace the old fixed-grip chairlifts at Replat and Plan des Violettes, which were deemed too slow and uncomfortable. It will offer a smooth, fast ascent, ideal for accessing Arc 2000 without having to use the other intermediate resorts.
"The new Villaroger gondola lift will replace the old three-seater fixed-grip lifts. It will seat 10 people, with external ski racks, just like the Transarc. It will also drastically cut access time to Arc 2000 from Villaroger to less than 8 minutes, compared with the current 25 minutes. This major project will be completed in December 2025, with a complementary service centre and car park at the foot of the lift. explains Aurélie Lévêquedirector of the Les Arcs ski area.
reforestation of over 3,000 trees
Designed with sustainability in mind, this development project aims to be exemplary in environmental terms. The theme of the line, called "the line of life", pays homage to the Hauts de Villaroger nature reserve, on the edge of the route. On the cabins, continuous lines sketch the fauna and flora of the Alps - plants, butterflies, birds - in a moving fresco that reminds us of the interdependence of all living things and the need to preserve them.
On the ground, a number of concrete actions have been undertaken: reforestation of more than 3,000 trees, creation of a wetland, increased environmental monitoring by an independent consultancy firm, and integration of areas dedicated to black grouse to encourage their reproduction. The red "Route 66" Enduro track will remain closed during the summer of 2025 due to the construction work.
In the long term, however, this temporary break will strengthen the cycle link between Villaroger, Arc 1600, 1800 and 2000, as part of the development of the bike park and soft mobility within the resort. This new facility is fully in line with Les Arcs' strategy to improve traffic flow, enhance the customer experience and make the resort a place to live all year round.
