Tourism Insights interface has revealed its analysis of 2024 travel trends for the French. Between the search for outdoor activities and the discovery of picturesque villages, the mountains are increasingly favoured by holidaymakers.
With an ever-growing desire to escape mass tourism and promote eco-responsible tourism, the French are gaining altitude and seem to be turning more and more to the mountains.
In all, 71.5% wanted to discover picturesque little towns and villages, set in wide open spaces, well off the beaten track.

An attraction to the mountains and the wilderness that translates into a desire to take part in outdoor activities, such as cycling, increasingly favoured by the French.
The mountains enjoy a positive image
According to another survey, this time conducted by IpsosMore than a quarter of French people (28%) plan to spend their summer holidays in the mountains this year, an increase on previous years when the mountains were less popular than the sea or the countryside.
Mountain holidays have a very positive image among the French, with 53% of those questioned having a 'very good image' of this type of holiday, while 42% gave them a 'fairly good image'.

This popularity can be attributed to the diversity of activities available and the beauty of the natural landscape, which once again attracts families and people looking for tranquillity and outdoor activities.
