At the heart of the Sybelles, The end of the season promises to be particularly busy at Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves. Between skiing under the stars, freestyle in the snowpark and a gourmet Beaufort weekend, the Savoyard resort promises a festive month of March.
With the return of sunny days and still solid snow cover on the summits, Les Sybelles is playing the spring skiing card to the full. In addition to the slopes, there are a number of events to mark the end of the season and attract holidaymakers and locals alike.
St So under the stars: a night-time version of ski touring
First appointment of the month, St So under the stars offers a different kind of mountain experience. On Tuesday 10 March, participants set off at dusk for a ski mountaineering ascent of the resort's slopes.
Two formats are on offer, one sporting for competitors, the other more accessible for those wishing to discover the discipline in a friendly atmosphere.
Organised in conjunction with the Maurienne Ski Alpinisme club, the race concludes with a snack shared at the finish, to extend the evening in the warm spirit of mountain villages.
In the cold night air, with headlamps on and skis on, the event offers a different view of the ski area.
Jacky Chaud: freestyle and good humour in the snowpark
A few days later, on Saturday 14 March, it's time for the Jacky Chaud, A must-see event for freestyle fans.
The Sybelles snowpark is the place to be for riders and snow sports fans alike, for a day of fun and entertainment. Ski, snowboard or telemark: all disciplines are welcome.
Organised by the association St So Air Force, Every year, the event attracts a loyal community who come to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the good humour of the tricks. Those who don't want to take part can simply come and cheer on the riders and enjoy the show.
Ride & Beaufort: sport, gastronomy and concerts
The high point of the end-of-season season will be the first edition of the Ride & Beaufort. A weekend combining sporting challenges on the slopes and gourmet pleasures around the famous Savoyard cheese.
On the programme: fun and offbeat challenges in the ski area, as well as Beaufort PDO tastings in all its forms. Between two descents, visitors can discover different specialities and share a festive moment in the heart of the resort.
Saturday evening also promises a lively atmosphere with the group Kaslan, who will be rocking the station with their trumpet, accordion, souba and electro beats.
