From 12 to 18 April 2026, Courchevel is hosting the Challenge des Moniteurs, the French championship for French Ski School instructors. More than 2,000 participants are expected to take to the slopes of the Savoyard resort for around forty events. It's a rare event for Courchevel, which hasn't organised the competition since 2007, and one that will involve the entire region.
From the early hours of the morning, the red suits lined up at the start of the Émile Allais stadium. The events follow one another throughout the day, from slalom to the technical disciplines taught in ski schools. The Épicéa stadium completes the programme, between the Croisette and the Loze plateau.
The Instructors' Challenge remains a special event in the winter calendar. It brings together professionals from all the French resorts, with a view to competition as well as peer recognition. Nearly 3,000 instructors will be present during the week, some of them competing in the race, others coming to support or encourage.
At Alpe d'Huez in 2025, the ESF of Courchevel Village placed eleven riders in the final. A performance that provides a benchmark ahead of the home edition.
A fully mobilised station
In addition to the slopes, the event extends to the whole resort. Around 600 accompanying adults are expected, with nearly 2,000 beds mobilised and 2,000 meals served each day. Traffic will be organised around the various competition venues and meeting points.

At the end of the day, participants gather around the Bar des Neiges or at the ice rink, where the evening events are held. The atmosphere remains one of group life and reunions between instructors from all over France.
The director of ESF 1550, Lucas Dyen, emphasises the importance of welcoming new guests to the resort. «Courchevel is proud to be hosting the 74th Instructors» Challenge. The local ESFs and all the players in the area are mobilised to offer competitions on World Cup stadiums and gatherings around the ice rink".»
