Who said that skiing was over as soon as the first rays of spring appeared? Temperatures are rising slowly and the days are getting longer, but France's ski resorts still offer great prospects for late-skiing enthusiasts. With quality snow, plenty of sunshine and end-of-season festivities, spring is even one of the best times to enjoy the slopes... without the winter holiday crowds.

March: the last runs in the earliest resorts
If you plan to put on your skis in March, several resorts close their slopes early in the month:
- Until 9 March : Alpe du Grand Serre, Serre-Eyraud, Le Lac Blanc, Gérardmer, Gréolières-les-Neiges.
- Until 15 March : Field of Fire.
Other resorts are keeping their domains open until 23 March :
- Saint-Léger-les-Mélèzes, La Colmiane, Lans-en-Vercors, Le Mont-Dore, Saint-Colomban-des-Villards, Albiez-Montrond, Chabanon, Montclar.
The end of March saw the closure of well-known stations such as :
- Les Angles, Super Besse, Monts Jura, Saint-Lary-Soulan, Ax 3 Domaines, Font-Romeu, La Giettaz, Peyragudes, Combloux, Valberg, La Bresse-Hohneck, Le Collet d'Allevard, Les 7 Laux, Flumet / Saint-Nicolas-la-Chapelle, Bernex, Thollon-les-Mémises.
April: springtime for skiers
Snow sports fans will still have plenty to do at the beginning of April, with resorts open until 6 April :
- Pralognan-la-Vanoise, Risoul, Chamrousse, Arêches-Beaufort, Grand Tourmalet, Morzine, Vars, Val d'Allos, Villard-de-Lans / Corrençon, Crest-Voland-Cohennoz, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, Praz de Lys-Sommand.
Until 13 AprilOther areas still welcome skiers:
- Valmorel, Puy-Saint-Vincent, Orcières-Merlette, Les Orres, Les Contamines-Montjoie, Le Grand-Bornand, Auron, Le Corbier, Les Karellis, Les Saisies, La Norma, La Toussuire, Aussois, Valmeinier, Valloire, Valfréjus, Saint-François-Longchamp, Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves.
The largest domains will last until the 20-21 April :
- Saint-Foy-Tarentaise, Val-Cenis, Brides-les-Bains, Montchavin-La Plagne, Méribel, Les Menuires, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, La Rosière, Le Dévoluy, Isola 2000, La Plagne-Montalbert, Oz 3300, Serre Chevalier, Alpe d'Huez, Cauterets, Vaujany, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, Champagny-en-Vanoise, Courchevel, Avoriaz, Morzine, Montgenèvre.
May: the die-hards of winter sports
For the most determined skiers, there are still a few bastions of snow where you can slide right up to the top. 4 May :
- Tignes, Les 2 Alpes, Val d'Isère, Val Thorens, Chamonix.
These high-altitude resorts generally guarantee optimum snow cover even in spring, but beware: weather conditions can change the opening and closing dates. We therefore strongly advise you to check the state of the slopes and the conditions in real time before planning your holiday.
