À SamoënsThe 2025-2026 winter season promises to be packed with new features, including unusual accommodation, scientific discoveries and life-size adventures. In this Haut-Giffre village, the link with the environment remains at the heart of the experiences on offer, for holidays that combine disconnection, authenticity and thrills.
Chalet Mont plaisir, a night out of time
Perched at an altitude of 1,400 metres, the Chalet Mont Plaisir is a peaceful retreat in the heart of the mountains. Accessible only on snowshoes or cross-country skis, this renovated former alpine chalet can accommodate up to ten people in an ecological setting with no mobile phone network, ideal for disconnecting from the world around you.
Three levels, a large living room opening onto the mountain and a cosy dormitory make up this 120 m² cocoon. Spring water, wood-burning stove heating and photovoltaic panels add to its eco-friendly spirit. Optional sessions of Afghan walking or cold yoga complete the experience, for a rejuvenating stay with family or friends.
A botanical garden open even in the snow
Another new feature: the Jaÿsinia alpine botanical garden, classified as a Remarkable Garden, now opens its doors in winter. Created in 1906 and perched high above the village, it offers a snow-covered view of the ruins of the Château de la Tornalta and the Jaÿsinia chapel.
Winter plants such as the hellebore d'Abchasie and the winter wanderer reveal their beauty through the alleys. Admission is free, a unique opportunity to discover Samoëns in a different way.
Ski touring and paragliding, guaranteed thrills
The pioneers of hang-gliding have passed on their passion: Julien and Thomas Jardin, sons of Michel Jardin, founder of one of the first hang-gliding schools in 1973, are now offering new experiences.
Their concept combines ski touring and paragliding: after a two-hour climb, the reward is a panoramic flight over the Aravis, Chablais and Mont-Blanc. These unique itineraries combine effort, freedom and adrenalin.
The Lac de Gers refuge, a night in the heart of nature
Finally, to experience the mountains up close, The Lac de Gers refuge opens this winter for half-board stays. Accessible on snowshoes or skis, it nestles at an altitude of 1,533 metres in the heart of a wild valley.
Caroline and Nicolas, the caretakers, make it a point of honour to combine authenticity with respect for the environment: solar panels, natural gas heating, a self-contained water treatment plant and limited use of plastics. Over a home-cooked dinner and an evening by the fire, the night in the refuge becomes an enchanted interlude.
