While theOrcières Merlette will be open between 14 December 2024 and 13 April 2025, Jordane Juschka, Director of the Tourist Office, told us all about the plans for the future.
It's shaping up to be a promising winter at Orcières Merlette, with a number of new features designed to improve skiers' comfort. "We're going to install a conveyor belt instead of a ski lift on the snow front, making access easier for everyone". explains Jordane Juschka.

As part of a more sustainable approach, the resort is also investing in optimising grooming and snow production. "Our machines will be equipped with measurement systems to better manage areas with too much or too little snow.. The aim is to make snow management more precise and make better use of natural resources".
A new chairlift next year
To compensate for the lack of snow in the valley, the Nordic ski run on the Rocherousse plateau will also be reworked. "We want to guarantee skiers a quality experience, even when snow is scarce at lower altitudes. In addition, signposting of the resort will be improved, and relaxation areas with panoramic terraces and picnic areas will complete the offer to make the most of the Orcières Merlette landscapes.

In the longer term, the station is looking even further ahead. "For winter 2025-2026, we plan to build a new detachable 6-seater chairlift on the Les Drapeaux snow front. This project will rationalise the operation of the ski area by replacing three old lifts with a single one, reducing the number of pylons and optimising skier flow.
