When the weather turns fickle, there's no need to put your gloves away! At l'Alpe d'Huez, even the bleakest of days can make for a sunny holiday. Between indoor activities, cocooning moments and unusual experiences, the resort has no shortage of ideas to turn a grey sky into a fun and friendly interlude.
AgorAlp, the temple of sheltered activities
Formerly the Palais des Sports et des Congrès, theAgorAlp is home to over a dozen activities for all ages. Games room, table tennis, tennis, squash, climbing, gym area, escape games... it's the perfect place to keep busy and have fun when the snow is still falling outside.
And for the very youngest, the Salle Emparis is a paradise: an area entirely devoted to children up to 6 years old, with motor skills modules, balance games, reading corners and giant bricks. A warm place to learn, climb and let off steam in complete safety (€5 admission, free for children under one).
Six escape games for a different kind of escape
If the blizzard's blowing outside, why not plunge into a different kind of adventure? L'Alpe d'Huez offers no fewer than six escape games with a variety of themes.
Immersive scenarios inspired by real-life stories, such as the Oisans maquis in 1944 or the Herpie mine in 1950, right up to this winter's new feature: "Out on the track", based on the 1968 Olympics and the bobsleigh event.
Perfect for testing your nerves, your powers of observation and your team spirit when the storm is brewing.
Read, move, relax: Zen alternatives
The resort also knows how to cultivate a gentle atmosphere. At the Alpe d'Huez library, you'll find over 17,000 books, from comic strips to children's novels, not forgetting the latest literary releases and magazines. The ideal place to warm up between two showers, in the company of a good book.
And to prolong the pleasure, head for the spa des Cimes or residences CGHThis is where parents and children can enjoy a massage or a moment of serenity. On their own, younger children can enjoy a "Bath Queen" or "Princess Rest" workshop, while parents enjoy a well-deserved moment of relaxation.
Indoor adventure and relaxation area
In the mood for action? The indoor adventure course atAgorAlp takes young and old to heights of over 8 metres, with zip lines, suspension bridges and climbing walls. It's a great way to get your adrenaline pumping while staying out of harm's way.
For a more leisurely break, the new "hors sac" room (100 m²) at the top of the Pic Blanc gondola offers a kitchenette, a sheltered terrace and a rest area with a children's zone. Perfect for lunching, reading or simply admiring the snowflakes.
And for a break between two showers
Younger children love the Cool Zone, a convivial space converted from recycled DMC cabins, perfect for chilling out or listening to music. As for the more creative, they can improvise as architects in the giant Lego workshop or take advantage of the free-access board games in theAgorAlp.
