À VaujanyThe village's history is now written in letters of altitude and modernity. On the heights of the village, the residence of the Hauts de la Drayrebuilt in the early 1990s and long out of breath, has been reborn under a new name: the Hauts de Vaujany. An ambitious project that combines memory and future, heritage and comfort, in the heart of the Oisans region.
Entrusted to Arcane, a Grenoble-based firm, the worksite is a veritable reconstruction. Everything has been rethought: the 90 ageing flats have been replaced by 64 top-of-the-range, spacious and light-filled homes, capable of accommodating 334 beds.
Three completely renovated buildings, a fourth dedicated to services, with swimming pool, spa, hammam, jacuzzi, treatment rooms, etc. Five WorldsThere are also areas for children and teenagers, a multi-purpose room and secure bicycle storage.
A strategic investment
With 75 % flats designed for four people or more, the residence is primarily aimed at families. But sports enthusiasts, tribes of friends and travellers in search of well-being will also find their place in this new setting, designed to meet the expectations of a changing tourism sector.
The municipality, which owns 70 % of its tourist beds - a unique case in the mountains - is piloting the project with a strategic vision: to preserve an integrated model, limit the number of "cold beds" and ensure a quality offering.

Total budget: 17 million euros, including 5 million for energy renovation and 7.4 million for the flats. The aim is to boost visitor numbers and ensure the profitability of a site whose occupancy rate had fallen below 60 %.
The project, carried out by 90 % of local companies, also aims to be exemplary in environmental terms: -78 % of greenhouse gas emissions forecast and 6,000 hours of social integration integrated into the programme.
Vacancéole, manager for 8 years
On the operational side, the commune has chosen Vacancéole, a well-known player in Alpine tourism (already established in Les 2 Alpes, Auris and Oz 3300). With an eight-year contract, the operator is committed to attracting a varied clientele - families, sports enthusiasts, nature lovers - and generating almost €1 million in annual sales.
The Hauts de Vaujany will be open 34 weeks a year (20 in winter, 14 in summer). It's a conscious choice, reflecting the desire to bring the resort to life over two seasons, with a range of facilities adapted to the rhythms of the mountains.

As well as modernising the town, this project symbolises the spirit of Vaujany: controlling its land, enhancing its heritage and looking to the future. Following on from the Belvedere and the renovation of Place de la Fare, the refurbishment of the Hauts de Vaujany completes the transformation of this strategic part of the village.
The first delivery is scheduled for December 2025, with an official opening for the winter season. That's when the first holidaymakers will discover a residence that has retained only the solidity of its original military walls, and has turned resolutely towards the Alpine art of living.
