The winter of 2025-2026 marks an important milestone for Châtel with the opening of the new Linga detachable 6-seater chairlift, replacing the old gondola built in 1986. A major upgrade.
The Linga gondola lift, with its 10-seater cabins, had a capacity of 2,230 people per hour. The new, more efficient chairlift will increase this figure to 3,000 people per hour.
The result is faster access to the domain and shorter waiting times, particularly at peak times.
Reduced impact on the landscape
The new device is characterised by a reduction in the number and size of pylons. The number of pylons has been reduced from 21 for the old line to just 13 for the new one, with lower heights.
This development limits the visual impact on the valley landscape. The Linga chairlift is equipped with a direct-drive system that is silent and energy-efficient.
A panoramic top station
Its benefits include significantly lower energy consumption, no hydrocarbons in operation, reduced noise pollution and enhanced safety for the teams in charge of operation and maintenance.
At the top, skiers will discover a hors sac room integrated into the upper station. It will offer a break area with a panoramic view of the valley and the village of Châtel, adding a friendly, contemplative dimension to the skiing experience.
