Briançon (Serre Chevalier) is preparing to welcome a new top-of-the-range establishment to the heart of its UNESCO World Heritage listed Vauban town. Opening in December 2025, The Drapers' HouseThis intimate 10-room 4-star hotel will open its doors in the former Aristide Albert library, built in 1883.
After renovating a listed mansion in Nîmes, a 16th-century château in Drôme Provençale and a character residence at the foot of the Alpilles mountains, The Social Club group has chosen Briançon to continue its expansion.
True to its vision of "sensible, sensible luxury", the brand has entrusted the metamorphosis of this iconic location to architect Nathalie d'Artigues (NDA agency). The aim: to combine contemporary comfort with respect for the strong history of this building in the Cité Vauban.
The hotel will have 10 rooms, including a suite and a junior suite. The decor will be elegant, timeless and warm, with subtle nods to local traditions. The introductory price is €160 per night.
A name in homage to drapers
The Drapers' House will offer a 70-seat restaurant (35 inside and 35 on the terrace). The menu, which will be deliberately small and progressive, will feature the key products of local gastronomy, prepared according to the seasons and the harvests of the Briançonnais producers.
An area called "Le Boudoir" will offer a lounge dedicated to treatments and massages, with a double cabin and a sauna to complete the experience.
Choosing a name The Drapers' House pays tribute to the textile crafts that have shaped the economy of the Briançonnais region. The drapers and weavers of yesteryear transformed the wool of the Alpine herds into robust fabrics, traded at the great transalpine fairs.
