According to a study carried out for Odalys on the perception of ski resorts by European customers, Austria has been the preferred destination for some years now, ahead of France.
Austria, the undisputed winter sports paradise?
A survey conducted by Madeinvote for Odalysa specialist in tourist accommodation, reveals that 62% of European tourists have visited Austria at least once in the last five years.

This figure is higher than that of France (52%), which occupies second place on the podium and can nevertheless boast of being home to "the best resort in the worldItaly (39%) was the third most popular destination.
French resorts appreciated for their ski areas
But what are the reasons why Austria topped the rankings, ahead of our resorts?
The authenticity of the area, the quality of the accommodation and the quality of the ski lifts are the criteria that favour Austria. The French resorts, on the other hand, are admired for the extent of their skiable terrain.

According to the same survey, which questioned more than 1,500 skiers, Italy is pushing hard behind France and confirming its status as the country on the rise in winter tourism.
With a certain homogeneity in its assets, such as the grandeur of its estates, the beauty of its places and the range of accommodation on offer, Italy is ahead of Switzerland (37%), which is praised in all the criteria, but which suffers from its prices, judged to be "too expensive".
