At the end of June, Briançon is decked out in its finest old-fashioned finery to bring back the spirit of the Middle Ages. From 27 to 29 June, the famous Cité Vauban plunges residents and visitors alike into a timeless atmosphere for the 21ᵉ edition of its major Medieval Festival.
In the heart of the listed ramparts, troubadours, knights, beggars, acrobats and craftsmen make the picturesque streets vibrate to the rhythm of ancient music, demonstrations of forgotten skills and colourful shows.
A rich and festive programme for all ages
The festivities kick off on Friday 27 June at 2.30pm with the first entertainment and strolls through the streets of the fortified town. Throughout the afternoon, the public will be able to meet colourful characters and immerse themselves in the joyous atmosphere of the medieval camps and markets set up in the town.

In the evening, head to the Jardin Chanoine Motte where, from 7.30pm, the "bouffons font leur show" (jesters put on a show) before giving way to a concert by Les Tanneurs de Drac and their "Légendes du sud et rumeurs du nord" (legends from the south and rumours from the north), a musical interlude inspired by the sounds of yesteryear.
