At an altitude of 2,300 metres, Serre Chevalier continues to expand its offering for beginner skiers. Following the opening of the Pontillas gondola lift in December 2023, which has transformed access to the Villeneuve sector, and the inauguration of the beginners' covered carpet last winter, the Méa plateau is preparing to welcome a new facility: the Pré de Jeanne ski lift.
At 450 metres long, this new lift complements the two lifts already in service on the plateau, Clot and Méa. The aim is clear: to offer novices a spacious, progressive and above all safe learning ground, with the guarantee of optimum snow cover throughout the season.
For many, it's a small revolution: learning to ski directly at 2,300 metres, far from the climatic hazards of lower altitudes.
This guideline illustrates the strategy of Serre Chevalier Vallée Domaine Skiable, which is adapting its development to current environmental challenges by giving priority to high-altitude areas.
Fun learning accessible to all
But the Méa plateau doesn't stop there. Beginners and families can also take advantage of the Easyboarder, a fun course designed to make the first turns more enjoyable.
Woops (small waves of snow) and banked turns are the order of the day on this run that winds its way between the hills, giving skiers and snowboarders of all ages the chance to progress while having fun.
With this new development, Serre Chevalier is confirming its ambition to make the Méa plateau a must-see area for first-time skiers, and a symbol of an accessible, sustainable and forward-looking mountain.
