À Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Val Thorens, The 2026 summer season opens with three new activities geared towards high altitude adventure. With committed canyoning, an introduction to mountaineering and a multi-activity offer, the valley is expanding its playground for mountain lovers.
1. Greater immersion in the natural environment
In the heart of the valley, a new canyoning trip is being organised in an isolated area, away from the main routes. Supervised by the guides' office, the activity takes place in the Varlossière canyon, at an altitude of over 2,000 metres. The route alternates abseiling, white-water sections and more technical sections, in an environment with few facilities.

The instructors speak of a route reserved for those who are already at ease. «We're on raw ground, with a real understanding of the environment».» says one of them on the spot. An optional overnight stay can be arranged in a restored former alpine hut, with no electricity and limited capacity. The refuge serves as a stopover point before a second day in the canyon.
2. First steps in mountaineering above Val Thorens
Higher up, above Val Thorens, A new ridge route offers an introduction to mountaineering without the need for equipped itineraries. The Cœurs ridge can be climbed roped up with a guide, on a route that combines walking and rocky sections.
The route is accessible but requires attention. The guides describe the level as intermediate, with a few exposed sections. The aim is to learn the basics of roped climbing in an aerial environment, without the use of artificial facilities. This is a full-day outing, supervised by professionals from the valley.
3. A wider range of products and services for a wider variety of uses
At the same time, the valley is launching a new scheme designed to combine several activities in a single holiday. The lift pass gives access to the ski lifts and to a range of activities, either supervised or free, depending on the options chosen.
Some packages include accompanied mountain outings, while others use existing leisure facilities such as sports and relaxation areas. The offer is aimed at a wide audience, with prices differentiated according to age and length of stay.
