The Dévoluythe mountain region between the Drôme and Hautes-Alpes, is becoming increasingly popular as a cycling destination. Gravel, mountain biking, raids, cyclosportives: the destination is multiplying the formats, routes and events to appeal to two-wheeled enthusiasts. Here's a round-up of the major new events to be discovered this summer.
A new gravel route to explore the high plateaux
It's one of the summer's major new features: the Tour du Dévoluy gravel route is now officially signposted and available online.
46km in length and 1,200m in positive gradient, it combines 24km of tracks and 22km of secondary roads, in a demanding route classified red by the French Cycling Federation. A beautiful, wild loop through the varied landscapes of the Massif.
L'Éterlou goes into raid mode for its 17th edition
An emblematic event at the start of the summer, L'Éterlou returns on 5 and 6 July 2025, with a major new feature: a timed raid format, to be completed in one or two days.
On the programme: 98km, 3,900m D+ and 4,600m D-, in technical and grandiose terrain. This challenge complements the more accessible Sunday rides, which attract almost 1,000 mountain bikers every year.
A joint trophy with the Ultra Raid de la Meije
Another innovation: L'Éterlou is teaming up with the Ultra Raid de la Meije to create a 100 % Hautes-Alpes trophy.

The best times accumulated over the two raids will give rise to a final ranking, to be announced on 14 September 2025 at the Meije. It's a great way to showcase the achievements of mountain bikers in two of the region's major events.
Two new technical mountain bike routes
Two new mountain bike routes have been added to the Dévoluy range, offering 16 FFC-approved circuits covering 306km of waymarked trails.
- Col de Rabou 17 km - 715 m D+ - black grading (or red for VTTAE)
- Pied de Faraut 24 km - 910 m D+ - black grading (or red for VTTAE)
These routes are aimed at experienced mountain bikers, with uphill profiles on gravel tracks and fun single descents.
