Before setting off, find out about local rules, particularly those concerning bivouacs. Some areas are protected, and camping there can harm the flora and fauna. Always favour authorised bivouac areas, often indicated by signs or local guides. This not only helps to respect nature, but also avoids fines.

It's tempting to pick wildflowers in the mountains, but it's crucial to resist. Many species, such as edelweiss and gentian, are protected. Picking them can jeopardise their survival in already vulnerable ecosystems. Just admire the beauty of these plants and leave them untouched so that others can enjoy them too.
3. Preserving Aquatic Ecosystems
High altitude lakes are sensitive habitats for many aquatic species. Avoid swimming in them, even if the water looks clean and refreshing. Simply entering them can upset the ecological balance by stirring up sediment or introducing foreign substances. Preserve these ecosystems to maintain local biodiversity.
4. Avoiding Campfires
