When night falls on the Écrins, A different face of the mountains emerges. The lights go out, the slopes empty and a deep calm descends over the valleys. Under a sky of rare purity, the evenings are transformed into timeless interludes, with unusual accommodation, gourmet get-togethers and unexpected adventures. This winter, the Pays des Écrins is unveiling three night-time experiences to be enjoyed intensely, combining nature, silence and Alpine magic.
1. A perched night at the Pas du Loup
Overlooking the Durance valley, the gîte-refuge Le Pas du Loup seems to be suspended somewhere between heaven and earth. Accessible by foot or by car, this wooden chalet cultivates an intimate, almost confidential atmosphere. Here, you slow down. The crackling stove, the scent of wood, the soothing altitude: everything invites you to relax.
The real experience begins once night sets in. The exceptionally clear sky is transformed into a veritable spectacle. Astronomy, night-time observation, rooftop terrace equipped with a small observatory... every moment becomes a tête-à-tête with the stars. An essential break for those seeking a refuge from time.

2. Immersion in a snow groomer
When the skiers leave the pistes and the ski lifts come to a halt, another ballet begins. The snow groomers, those steel giants with huge caterpillar tracks, take over and carve out the ski area in impressive silence.

A rare opportunity to see behind the scenes and discover the mountain in all its grandeur.

We reached the site at dusk, guided by the glow of headlamps, before settling down around a large table, protected by the icy thickness of the walls. The contrast is superb: the cold outside, the warmth of the food, the laughter, the soft light... An evening that leaves lasting memories, between simplicity and adventure.
