From 26 to 29 March 2026, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaujany.com\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vaujany<\/a> welcomes the 5\u1d49 edition of Cascade de Livres, a singular festival that turns children's literature and fantasy into a veritable cultural playground in the heart of the Alps.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a time when screens are capturing more and more of young people's attention, the village resort is going against the grain: putting books back at the centre, encouraging encounters with authors and making reading a living, shared and accessible experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A literary festival designed to communicate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Supported by the P\u00f4le Culturel de Vaujany, in close collaboration with local schools and a host of local partners, Cascade de Livres has established itself over the last few years as one of the most popular book fairs in France. <a href=\"https:\/\/petit-montagnard.fr\/en\/discover-all-the-winter-highlights-at-vaujany\/\">as a special event<\/a>. Why choose Vaujany for your ski holiday this winter?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For four days, some fifteen authors, illustrators and artists will be taking over the resort's cultural venues - media library, museum, cinema, village hall - to offer a dense but easy-to-understand programme designed for children and adults alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Young people at the heart of the project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first two days are largely devoted to schoolchildren, from nursery to CM2. Schools in Vaujany, Allemond, Bourg-d'Oisans, Gavet and Vizille are all actively involved in this initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Illustration workshops, musical readings, a literary escape game, an introduction to writing or drawing... Here, literature is experienced as an exploration, encouraging creativity, personal expression and the imagination. It's a way of promoting cultural emancipation, far removed from the passive use of screens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Events open to the general public<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cascade de Livres is not just for young audiences. The festival is wide open to families, holidaymakers and literature lovers, with a number of highlights accessible to all:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Literary events<\/strong> with three renowned female novelists, focusing on contemporary writing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Film-debate<\/strong> about the adaptation of a novel into a television series<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Family show<\/strong>, with Romeo and Juliet on the sly, a playful and accessible retelling of Shakespeare's classic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Big signing session<\/strong>, A friendly Sunday afternoon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Not forgetting the festival tombola, organised in aid of the P\u00f4le Culturel, a symbol of an event that is deeply rooted in local life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Renowned guests to fuel the imagination<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2026 edition will bring together a number of major figures in children's and contemporary literature:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ramona B\u0103descu<\/strong>, a leading author of children's literature, translated into some twenty languages, will be leading a writing workshop open to children aged 8 and over and adults.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Christos<\/strong>, author and performer, will be putting on a sound show for toddlers and a fun workshop combining humour, poetry and reflection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Violaine Costa<\/strong>, the internationally acclaimed children's illustrator, will be leading a pop-up workshop on creating paper backdrops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Deghelt<\/strong>, a novelist and former AFP journalist, will be taking part in a number of meetings with adults and a literary breakfast.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vaujany, a high-altitude cultural laboratory<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With its media library, museum and active cultural programme throughout the year, Vaujany is confirming its commitment to the idea that the mountains are not just a place for sporting leisure activities, but also a place for creativity, transmission and intellectual curiosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In five editions, Cascade de Livres has become a strong marker of this identity.
