The winter holidays are approaching, and with them the traditional hassle of getting to the ski resorts. Endless queues, crowded shuttles, chaotic journeys... an obstacle course that could well be a thing of the past. Uber has just launched its " Uber Ski" a new option that promises to take you to the most beautiful resorts in the French Alps with complete peace of mind.

From 4 February to 30 March 2025, winter sports fans will be able to book an "Uber Ski" journey directly via the app. The idea? A VTC service tailored to the demands of mountain holidays, with spacious vehicles such as vans capable of accommodating up to five passengers and a boot optimised for transporting skis and snowboards without a hitch.

A little bonus for passengers: Uber includes a few thoughtful touches in its vehicles. Cereal bars for sluggishness on the slopes, neck warmers for distracted passengers who always forget an accessory... A way of adding a little comfort and good humour to the journey.

This new service did not come out of nowhere. Uber has seen an explosion in demand in the Northern Alps: in 2024, 115,000 people opened the app in an attempt to order a ride in the region, an increase of 35 % compared to 2023.

The most popular destinations? Unsurprisingly, the resorts of Three Valleys - Méribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens - top the rankings. But Les Arcs, Val d'Isère, Tignes, l'Alpe d'Huez and Les 2 Alpes are not to be outdone.

"Uber Ski" also available in Europe

Forget the hassle of taking the bus and the long waits when you get off the train: "Uber Ski" is now available from strategic stations and airports in the Alps. Chambéry, Grenoble, Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Moûtiers are the ideal starting points for getting to the most popular resorts.

Prices are fixed, ranging from €65 to €250 depending on the destination. A controlled cost that avoids unpleasant surprises when you arrive at your destination.

Good news for globetrotters on the slopes: "Uber Ski" doesn't stop at our borders. Germany, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland... Several European countries are now offering this service to facilitate access to the continent's most popular resorts.

With this new option, Uber is tackling a real logistical headache for skiers. It remains to be seen whether the experience will live up to expectations, but one thing is certain: the arrival of a VTC service designed specifically for the mountains could change the landscape of transport to ski resorts.
