France and its mountains are full of ski resorts, some of which are among the largest in the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1) 3 Vall\u00e9es (Savoie)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Located in the Northern Alps, the 3 Vall\u00e9es ski area is quite simply the world's largest ski area<\/a>With over 600 kilometres of pistes served by almost 200 ski lifts.<\/p>\n\n\n

The 3 Valleys are home to several world-famous ski resorts, including Courchevel, M\u00e9ribel<\/a>Val Thorens and Les Menuires, which are all connected to each other, offering a wide variety of slopes, accessible to all levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located at an altitude of 2,300 metres, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe, which means it enjoys excellent snow conditions. It is also regularly cited as the best resort in the world<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) Portes du Soleil (Haute-Savoie\/Switzerland)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Situated between France and Switzerland, this ski area is one of the largest in Europe. It includes resorts such as Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Champ\u00e9ry, Morgins and Torgon. <\/p>\n\n\n

In total, the Portes du Soleil is made up of twelve ski resorts, with over 600 kilometres of pistes and 200 ski lifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to its geographical location between two countries, the resort offers impressive panoramic views of the Swiss and French Alps, including the Mont Blanc massif<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Portes du Soleil resorts are also set in an unspoilt natural environment, surrounded by woodland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) Paradiski (Savoie)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The third largest ski area in France behind the 3 Valleys and the Portes du Soleil, Paradiski links two major resorts: La Plagne and Les Arcs. <\/p>\n\n\n

The two resorts are linked by the famous Vanoise Express cable car, one of the world's largest, inaugurated in 2004, which crosses the Ponthurin valley in just four minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located in the Tarentaise valley in the Northern Alps, the ski area covers an impressive 425 kilometres of pistes. Nestling between 1,200 metres and more than 3000 metres above sea level<\/a>Paradiski is renowned for its vertical drop and favourable snow conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4) Milky Way (Southern Alps)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The site of the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, the Voie Lact\u00e9e ski area, also known as Via Lattea in Italian, includes several French and Italian ski resorts spread around the border. <\/p>\n\n\n

5) Espace Killy (Savoie)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Formed by the ski resorts of Tignes and Val d'Is\u00e8re, the Espace Killy is one of the most renowned in France and the world, for the quality of its slopes and snow cover. <\/p>\n\n\n

The ski area offers around 300 kilometres of pistes. It is named in honour of French skier Jean-Claude Killy, three-time Olympic alpine skiing champion in 1968.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
