What if, for the duration of your stay in the mountains, you were to take a trip to the other side of the world? From 17th to 23rd January, Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves is organising a Mountain Professions Week, a rare initiative that invites holidaymakers and locals alike to discover the people who bring the resort to life on a daily basis, far from the clichés and postcards.
Ski patrollers, groomers, cheese makers, ski lift staff... For a week, the mountains are told by those who work on them.
Immerse yourself in the jobs that make up the mountains
Organised by the Tourist Office, this themed week focuses on practical, accessible and often free encounters, designed as much for the curious as for mountain enthusiasts.
The aim is to gain a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes, the skills and constraints of an area that is alive all year round, well beyond the ski season.

Why this week is worth a visit
At Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves, this week is neither a gimmick nor an off-the-wall event. It's part of a drive to pass on the message, promote the value of our professions and teach people about the realities of the mountains.
For families, it's a fun way to awaken the curiosity of younger children.
For adults, it's a rare opportunity to gain a better understanding of this demanding territory, where every day depends on the weather, the snow... and the work of the shadows.
